The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Viking shoots in and gets a takedown into Spiliopoulos's guard.
Viking wants to control from the top but Spiliopoulos keeps moving.
Viking is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Viking forces his way into half guard.
Viking tries to pass to full mount but Spiliopoulos defends it.
Spiliopoulos is staying active underneath Viking, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Spiliopoulos gets back to full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Viking trying to control the position from guard on top but Spiliopoulos is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Spiliopoulos shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Viking's guard.
Viking is looking to stand back up but Spiliopoulos counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Viking.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Viking wants to get back to his feet.
Spiliopoulos works his way into side control.
Spiliopoulos is trying to get an arm triangle but Viking is defending well.
Spiliopoulos wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Viking, who protects the arm well.

Viking tries to escape back to his feet but Spiliopoulos has kept hold of him... Oh, now he's got Viking's back and is looking for the choke... Is it? Is it sunk in? YES! Viking is tapping! Spiliopoulos saw the opportunity and took it - ruthless!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Leonidas Spiliopoulos!
A relieved looking Leonidas Spiliopoulos thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
