Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Winkle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Clayton Atkinson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Clayton Atkinson will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, John Winkle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Clayton Atkinson!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Steven Brown and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Atkinson lands with a thumping leg kick.
Winkle shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Atkinson counters with a leg kick.
That kick from Atkinson tenderised Winkle's leg. Winkle is trying to keep his angry face on.
Winkle fails with the takedown
and Winkle takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Atkinson tries to escape but Winkle is in control.

Winkle thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Winkle wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Atkinson, who protects the arm well.

Winkle is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Atkinson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Winkle tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Winkle has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Winkle is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Atkinson is just riding it out for now. Winkle eventually gives up the hold.

Winkle drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Atkinson dives on top into guard.

Winkle is looking for a triangle but Atkinson pushes his legs off easily.
Atkinson would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Atkinson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Winkle swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Atkinson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Winkle is proving hard to escape from.

That was a close round but I would say that John Winkle will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Atkinson lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Winkle backs up against the cage.

Winkle seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

Winkle doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Atkinson turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Atkinson throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Winkle throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Atkinson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Atkinson buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Atkinson fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Winkle.

Atkinson lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Winkle shoots and misses
and Atkinson counters with a low kick, right behind Winkle 's knee.
Atkinson connects with an inside leg kick.
Look low, kick high! Atkinson uses the oldest trick in the book to send Winkle tumbling to the canvas, in a truly brutal knockout! Atkinson is absolutely delighted - when Winkle wakes up, I doubt he'll be quite so happy!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:21 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Clayton Atkinson!
A relieved looking Clayton Atkinson thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
