PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bartel Diakite (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steven Frost (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Diakite kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Diamonds. Frost is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Hits from the bong - Cypress Hill. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Bartel Diakite!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Steven Frost!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Daniel Bishop and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Diakite bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Frost throwing some weak shots from the bottom that do no damage.
Frost tries to buck Diakite off but Diakite is having none of it.

Diakite is trying to get an arm triangle but Frost is defending well.
A lull in the action here as Diakite stalls from top position.
Diakite looking to control but instead Frost has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
Frost wants to control but Diakite is keeping busy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Well, if Diakite is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Diakite really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Diakite is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Diakite seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Frost for as long as he can get away with.

Diakite is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Frost is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Frost has escaped and now he's on top!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Diakite closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Bartel Diakite is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Diakite, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
