Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tommy Gavin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gene Morningstar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Morningstar's choice of entrance music: Karma Chamelion. Gene Morningstar has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Daniel Franklin and David Hoff.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gavin has managed to clinch.
Gavin is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Gavin is struggling to control the position.
Gavin prevents a takedown attempt there.
Gavin jumps guard but Morningstar stands there with Gavin around his waist. Gavin gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Morningstar wants a takedown.
Gavin managing to block the knees to the body from Morningstar.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gavin tries to work over Morningstar's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Morningstar's coach down at Island Top Team was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Morningstar's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
A bit of stalling here from Gavin.
Morningstar has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Gavin is trying to keep an underhook but Morningstar manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Morningstar working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gavin looks like he's trying to stand up.

Gavin is squirming around, avoiding Morningstar's attempts to control the action.
Morningstar lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
It looks like Tommy Gavin has been cut.

Morningstar won't let Gavin get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Morningstar controlling the position easily from mount.
Gavin's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Morningstar takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Morningstar wants to finish this one by submission but Gavin is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Morningstar.
Gavin is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Gavin on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Gavin tries to get out of the position.

Gene Morningstar decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
