Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Dado Mata (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lin Shui (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mata's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, 和楽器バンド / 千本桜. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dado Mata!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lin Shui!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Joseph Jones and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shui tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Mata fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Mata uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Shui.
Mata moves out of range of the body kick.
Mata lunges at Shui with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Shui's hand.
A jab from Mata finds it's way through Shui's defenses.
Mata swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Shui.
Shui throws a half hearted mid kick.
Mata looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
Mata swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Shui lands with an uppercut that bounces Mata off the cage and back into range.
Shui takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Dado Mata seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Shui throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Mata stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Mata swings for the body but Shui moves out of range.
Shui takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
The crowd cheers as Mata lands an impressive looking overhand right. Shui doesn't seem phased though.
Shui ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Shui fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
The fighters circle momentarily. Mata darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Mata lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Shui at a distance.
Mata misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Shui cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Mata thows a left - swing and a miss!
Shui misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Mata tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Shui was well out of range. Poor timing from Mata.
It looks like Mata has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.
Shui falls off balance throwing a combination
and Mata counters with a low kick, right behind Shui 's knee.
Nice body punch from Mata.
Nice jab there from Mata.
Shui misses with a hook to the body
and Mata counters with a nice uppercut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Mata gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Mata scores with a jab to the body.
Shui with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Mata to score with a decent uppercut.

No joy there for Shui, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Shui tries to clinch but Mata is having none of it.
Mata is looking to counter with a shot to the body.

Mata throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Shui was covering up waiting for the punch and Mata finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Mata stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shui swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Our spies down at at The Shit House-(12 coaches, all double elites) inform us that Shui has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
Shui looking for a sweep. Not yet Shui, not yet.
Mata tries to free his leg and advance position but Shui is retaining full guard.
Mata trying to control the position from guard on top but Shui is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Mata pushing down on Shui's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shui wants to improve his position but Mata is controlling well.

Mata is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Shui is just riding it out for now. Mata eventually gives up the hold.

Mata content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Mata is working for a kimura but Shui is defending it quite comfortably.
Mata works his way into side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Mata advances to mount.
Shui really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Mata wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.
Mata trying to control but Shui is having none of it.
Shui looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!

Shui is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Mata gets his way!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dado Mata dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Shui throws a right and a left that Mata avoids nicely.

Mata shoots in and gets a takedown into Shui's guard.
Mata trying to control but Shui is working from the bottom.

Mata postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Shui is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Mata, into his guard.

Shui connects with a couple of short punches.

Mata looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mata is trying to keep Shui in close.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mata tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Shui wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Mata is working hard here to advance position.
Mata is trying to control Shui's posture but Shui avoids it.
Mata gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Shui connects with a nice short shot to Mata's temple.
Mata makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Mata.
Mata keeping moving, preventing Shui from controlling successfully.
Shui wants to pass the guard but Mata is keeping the position.
Shui advances position into side control!

Mata is trying to control Shui's posture but Shui avoids it.

Shui working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
You can see the frustration on Mata's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Shui lands a decent elbow from side control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Lin Shui showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Mata cracks Shui with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Mata throws a shot from downtown. Shui moves away and avoids it.
Shui's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Mata connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Shui scrambles back to his feet.
Mata works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.


Shui is rocked!
Shui throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Mata counters with a beautiful right hand that knocks Shui out cold! What a finish! Mata is going crazy, running around the mat, summersaulting off the corner posts and screaming into the cameras. Something tells me he's pretty happy!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Dado Mata!
Dado Mata decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
In defeat, Lin Shui stepped up to the mic, saying 'No worries. Everyone knows my opponent here has a very bad habit of testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs, so I'm confident this fight will soon be ruled a 'No-Contest.''.
