Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Roy Tunney!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 11 - 1, fighting out of London, Eddie Melo!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Atkins and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Melo looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Melo connects with an inside leg kick.
Tunney has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Tunney there as he acknowledges the shot.
Tunney with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Melo to score with a decent uppercut.
Jab, jab by Melo - just one landing.
Melo lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Melo connects with a right hand. Tunney shakes it off.
Tunney tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Melo counters with a straight right hand.
A nice leg kick lands there from Melo.
Melo lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Melo smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Tunney takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Melo is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Tunney had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Melo lands a nice leg kick that just misses Tunney's sensitive parts.

and Melo counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Melo paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
A solid leg kick lands there for Melo.
Tunney throws a combination that misses
and Melo counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Tunney drops his hands momentarily and Melo takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Melo lands with a right hand.
Melo lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Melo connects with a leg kick. Tunney looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Tunney takes a jab right on the kisser.
Tunney looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Melo throws a nice inside leg kick.
Melo turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Eddie Melo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Tunney takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Tunney is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Melo throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Tunney.
Melo looks to land a combination. Tunney sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Tunney throws a hook but Melo avoids it easily.

Melo dodges the punch combination from Tunney.

Tunney closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Melo cracks Tunney with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Tunney wants to clinch
and Melo cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Nice sprawl there from Melo as Tunney shoots in.
Melo throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Tunney shoots in but Melo avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Roy Tunney. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Melo turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Melo explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Tunney tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Melo counters with a low kick, right behind Tunney 's knee.

Melo connects with an inside leg kick.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Tunney shoots and misses
and Melo counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Melo with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Melo lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Tunney looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Melo throws a nice outside leg kick.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Tunney crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Melo - the referee stops the clock and Tunney gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Melo. Tunney manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Melo fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Tunney looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Nice jab there from Melo.
Melo throws a front kick that sends Tunney stumbling back into the cage.
Tunney is breathing heavily.
Tunney fails with the takedown.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
A solid body kick from Melo.
A head kick from Melo lands but Tunney takes it in his stride.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eddie Melo dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Tunney takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
A low kick from Tunney is predictable there
and Melo counters with a right hand to the body.
Tunney chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Melo can pounce on him.

and Melo counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Eddie Melo seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Tunney tries to clinch but Melo moves away
and Melo counters with an inside leg kick.
Melo lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Melo lands the left hand.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Melo.
Good exchange - Melo coming out on top.
Tunney takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Tunney is defended easily by Melo.

Tunney shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Melo defends it nicely.

Tunney looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Melo is fending him off so far but Tunney persists. Nope, Melo circles away and we're back to standing.

Melo buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Melo connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Tunney drops his hands momentarily and Melo takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Melo feints a jab promting Tunney to slip. Melo then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Tunney slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.


Tunney is rocked!
Melo lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Oh Tunney is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Melo feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Tunney's calf.
Tunney seems to have got his legs back now.
Melo slips a jab and a cross from Tunney.
It seemed like Melo was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Melo scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Tunney fails with the takedown
and Melo connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Melo throws a quick inside leg kick.
Good work by Melo as he checks the leg kick.
Melo moves into range and connects with a jab.

Tunney throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Melo's waist but Melo gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Tunney off to one side.

Tunney closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Melo breaks the clinch.
Melo scores with a nice head shot.
Melo uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Tunney stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Melo.
Melo thuds his right hand into Tunney's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Melo connects with a body shot that sends Tunney's belly button to the back.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Tunney throws a wild hook but Melo just manages to duck under it and - ooooh! Tunney gets nailed by a brutal uppercut which crumples him back against the cage! The referee jumps in - Melo raises his hands in celebration and walks away!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Eddie Melo!
Eddie Melo seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
In defeat, Roy Tunney stepped up to the mic, saying 'He got the win, better man today, what can I say.'.
