PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Antonio Zarco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bernhard Langer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Langer is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Jeezy f. Rocko and 2 Chainz - Benihana. Bernhard Langer will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Antonio Zarco!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bernhard Langer!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zarco scoring well with a low kick there.
Langer just misses with a punch to the body.
As Langer tries to get set, Zarco tries to push him back and clinch up but Langer manages to avoid the attempt.
Langer tries for a takedown but Zarco circles away easily
and Zarco counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Langer scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Zarco lands a nice shot that snaps Langer's head back.
Langer plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Langer loads up on a big right hand but Zarco slips the punch.
Zarco is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Zarco throws a nice inside leg kick.
Langer misses with a leg kick
and Zarco connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Langer cracks Zarco with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Langer connects with a right hand. Zarco shakes it off.
Langer throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Langer tries a low kick but Zarco avoids it.
Langer moves out of range as Zarco strikes.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Zarco fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Langer.
Zarco tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Zarco sizes up Langer with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Langer throws a leg kick but Zarco moved away.
Langer swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Bernhard Langer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Zarco wants to slow Langer down by chopping away at his legs.
Langer flicks out a counter leg kick but Zarco steps away.
Langer pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Langer scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Langer misses with the ground and pound.
Langer scoring with punches and elbows.
Zarco tries to bench press Langer off him but Langer keeps the position.
Langer controls the position from side control.
Zarco is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Bruize Brothaz, so we'll see if he gets out of it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Langer working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Langer controls the position.
Zarco struggling a bit here.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Langer wants to lay and pray for a moment but Zarco keeps working.

Langer lands some shots froms side control.
Zarco is trying to improve his position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Langer trying to control the position but Zarco is working away.
Zarco tries to buck Langer off but Langer is having none of it.
Zarco wants to control but Langer postures up.
Zarco takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Zarco tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Langer wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Langer cracks Zarco with a big right hand but Zarco just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Zarco tries to buck Langer off but Langer is having none of it.
Langer is working Zarco over with some ground and pound from side control.
Zarco tries to improve position but can't.
Langer is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Zarco will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
It looks like Langer might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Zarco tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Zarco is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Langer's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Langer slips a nice elbow through Zarco's hands, connecting with Zarco's forehead.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bernhard Langer dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


A telegraphed right hand from Langer misses the target.
Zarco slips a straight right by Langer.
Zarco loads up on a big right hand but Langer slips the punch.
A jab from Langer finds it's way through Zarco's defenses.
Langer tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Zarco tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Langer paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Langer looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it.
Zarco just misses with a punch to the body.

A swing and a miss from Langer.

Langer lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Zarco misses with a head kick.
Langer lands a head kick. Zarco smiles back at him and beckons him forward.


Zarco is rocked!
Langer cracks Zarco on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Zarco falls backwards against the cage. Langer follows up with more strikes that drop Zarco to his knees. Langer keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Zarco! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bernhard Langer!
During a confident post fight interview, Bernhard Langer thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
