PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Murphy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Santiago Areias (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Murphy kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Battering Ram - 'Come Out and Fight' Irish Folk. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Areias fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Murphy avoids it really well and circles away.
Areias misses with a takedown attempt - Murphy sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Murphy fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Areias manages to avoid it.
Murphy dives in for a single leg takedown but Areias sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Murphy looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Areias is fending him off so far but Murphy persists. Nope, Areias circles away and we're back to standing.
Areias closes the distance and clinches up with Murphy, looking for a takedown. Areias pushes Murphy against the cage but Murphy circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Areias really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Murphy. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Areias has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Murphy is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Areias.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Murphy decides to stand back up.
Murphy fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Areias avoids it really well and circles away.

Areias shoots in and bounces Murphy off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Areias wants to control from the top but Murphy keeps moving.

That was a close round but I would say that Daniel Murphy will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
