The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pettis tries to keep at a distance but Volcanic has taken the fight into the clinch.
Pettis dodges an elbow strike from Volcanic.
Volcanic is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Pettis gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Volcanic lands with a light punch inside.
Volcanic lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Pettis swings wildly with an uppercut but Volcanic uses good head movement to avoid it.

Volcanic breaks from the clinch.
Volcanic fails to land with a series of punches.
Volcanic fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Pettis stuffs the takedown attempt from Volcanic. Volcanic gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Danny Volcanic. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Volcanic swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Volcanic shoots in but no luck this time.

and Pettis counters with a stiff right hand.
Pettis throws a lazy right hand but Volcanic sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Pettis swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Volcanic moves into the clinch.

Volcanic manages to break the clinch.
Pettis takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Volcanic looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Pettis looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Volcanic drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Volcanic is standing up over Pettis. Pettis looks to escape but Volcanic dives into side control.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Volcanic cracks Pettis with a big elbow.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pettis seems a little lost for a moment, as Volcanic dominates the positioning.
Volcanic in side control lands a decent elbow.

Pettis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Volcanic. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Pettis takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Volcanic moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Pettis pushes Volcanic away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Volcanic gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Volcanic controls the position from side control.
Volcanic's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Volcanic has an Americana. Pettis didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Volcanic is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Volcanic hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
