Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Samuel Birchmont (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Benjamin Brooks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Samuel Birchmont!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Benjamin Brooks!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Dillan Fox and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Birchmont.

Brooks clinches up with Birchmont and pushes him back against the cage.
Brooks has Birchmont pressed against the cage, preventing Birchmont from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Brooks tries to close the distance and clinch up but Birchmont swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Birchmont seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Birchmont shoots in for a takedown but Brooks shows good takedown defense.
Benjamin Brooks seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Brooks tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Birchmont manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Birchmont dives in and grabs Brooks's left leg, looking for a takedown. Brooks pushes down on Birchmont's head and hops out.
Brooks dives in for a single leg takedown but Birchmont sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

The fighters circle momentarily. Birchmont darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Brooks fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Birchmont really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Birchmont ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Brooks moves away.

Samuel Birchmont has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Benjamin Brooks.
Birchmont fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Brooks avoids it really well and circles away.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Brooks has his foot on Birchmont's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Birchmont works his way back into a safe position though.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Birchmont is defended easily by Brooks.

Brooks drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Birchmont manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Brooks has Birchmont in his guard.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Birchmont, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
