The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Leone fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Zhirkov looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Vasili Zhirkov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Leone thuds a left hand into Zhirkov's body.
Zhirkov darts in looking for a takedown but Leone gets double underhooks and turns Zhirkov into the cage.
Leone misses the jab.
Zhirkov changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Horrible takedown attempt by Zhirkov or perhaps it was just good defense by Leone, which made it look bad.
Zhirkov looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Leone throws a shot to the body.
Zhirkov closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Leone to the mat! Leone manages to get full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Zhirkov takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Zhirkov is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Leone doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Zhirkov.

Zhirkov looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Zhirkov is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Leone has managed to escape the submission attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Leone is working to get back to half guard.

Zhirkov wants to take Leone's back here but Leone is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
Zhirkov controlling the position easily from mount.
Leone felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Zhirkov is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Leone to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Leone shrugs it off.
Zhirkov moves to take his opponent's back.

Will Zhirkov go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

Zhirkov keeps control of the position as Leone tries to break free.
Zhirkov working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Leone is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Zhirkov has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Leone taps out!

Vasili Zhirkov bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
