Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Alex Flaherty (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Colt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alex Flaherty could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Ryan Colt's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alex Flaherty!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Ryan Colt!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Reed Andrews and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Flaherty pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Colt back to the cage. Flaherty follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Flaherty slips a straight right by Colt.
Flaherty pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Colt throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Flaherty rushes Colt and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Flaherty breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Flaherty gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Colt.

Flaherty sneaks out the side door and pushes Colt away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A big right from Colt misses.
A decent looking cross lands there for Colt.
Colt cracks Flaherty with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Colt works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Colt throws a hook but Flaherty blocks it.
Flaherty appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Flaherty tries to clinch but Colt is having none of it.
We've been hearing reports that Flaherty has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Nice defenses there by Flaherty.
Flaherty takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Colt missing with a left hand there. Flaherty was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
A quick step to the side and Flaherty tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Flaherty tries to score a power double leg takedown but Colt sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Flaherty somewhat.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Colt.
Flaherty wants to control but Colt postures up.
Colt throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Colt lands a nice forearm strike.
Flaherty defending against the ground and pound.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Colt thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Flaherty is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Colt lands a decent elbow from side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Colt misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Colt tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Colt cracks Flaherty with a big right hand but Flaherty just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Flaherty can't do much from the bottom here.

Flaherty tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Colt easily slips into full mount!

Colt has hold of Flaherty's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Flaherty manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Colt avoids the attempt from Flaherty to control.
Colt connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Colt thowing shots but they're missing.
Colt content just to control the position here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ryan Colt dominated that round.

Flaherty on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Flaherty is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Colt has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Colt throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Flaherty tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Colt is in Flaherty's guard.
Colt is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Flaherty keeping moving, preventing Colt from controlling successfully.
Colt throwing strikes from guard but Flaherty blocks nicely.
Ryan Colt has got the better of the ground game so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Colt throws a big right hand that misses.
Colt with a flurry of punches that miss.

Colt working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Flaherty's head.
Colt trying to control the position from guard on top but Flaherty is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Colt tries to free his leg and advance position but Flaherty is retaining full guard.
Colt sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Colt throwing strikes but missing.
Colt passes into half guard.
Colt is keen to just control but Flaherty is a slippery customer.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Colt not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Colt throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Colt is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Flaherty knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Colt on the ground.
Flaherty is trying to maintain the position but Colt is very close to passing his half guard.
Colt missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Flaherty wants to get back to his feet.

Colt has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Flaherty defend it? Colt steps over the head and cranks it - Flaherty is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Colt!
