Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Aspen Springfield (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Winnie Pooh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Springfield comes to the cage accompanied by The Traditional Fools - Street Surfin'. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Aspen Springfield!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Winnie Pooh!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Seu Braga and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Springfield lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Pooh is looking to clinch.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Pooh's coach down at Soul Supremacy Rio was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Pooh's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Pooh blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Pooh tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Pooh has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Springfield can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pooh is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Springfield pulls his head out easily.

Pooh is not content to let Springfield control the position.

Springfield is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Pooh is just riding it out for now. Springfield eventually gives up the hold.

Springfield is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Springfield has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Springfield is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Pooh knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Pooh for a finish.

Springfield goes for a risky armbar from back mount and it's not paid off. Pooh escapes and is now in half guard on top.

Springfield is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Aspen Springfield overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
