PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Julius Schwartz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lex Luther (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Lex Luther was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Julius Schwartz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Lex Luther!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Luther just misses with a punch to the body.

Luther really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Schwartz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Luther rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Schwartz moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

It looked like Schwartz was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Luther.

Schwartz shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Schwartz was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Schwartz wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Luther, who protects the arm well.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Schwartz drops his hands momentarily and Luther takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Luther rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Schwartz moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Schwartz swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

Schwartz bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Luther bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

and Schwartz counters with a single leg into guard. Luther didn't expect that.
Luther wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Schwartz manages to pass to side control.

Luther is working an open guard so Schwartz takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

A looping hook to the body misses from Luther. Schwartz does a little dance to reset his feet.
Luther will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Luther swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Luther tries to bum rush Schwartz with a series of wild strikes but Schwartz uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Luther pushes Schwartz off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Lex Luther showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Schwartz feints and as Luther raises his hands in defense, Schwartz changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Schwartz decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Luther, up you get!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
