The crowd seem to be enjoying Velasquez's choice of entrance music: El Camino . These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Diamond Dollar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Fabricio Velasquez!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dollar tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
A telegraphed right hand from Velasquez misses the target.
Dollar takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
A looping hook to the body misses from Velasquez. Dollar does a little dance to reset his feet.

Dollar shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Velasquez is trying to defend but Dollar finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Dollar lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Dollar blocks the strikes from Velasquez.
Velasquez is looking for a sweep. Dollar is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dollar looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Velasquez trying to control but Dollar postures up.
Dollar working over Velasquez with some ground and pound. Velasquez looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Dollar is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Velasquez trying to control here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dollar drops an elbow to the side of Velasquez's head.

Velasquez is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Dollar pulls his head out easily.
Dollar working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Dollar seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Velasquez is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Diamond Dollar!
Our winner, Diamond Dollar, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
Fabricio Velasquez spoke after the fight, saying 'My camp trained hard, but the better fighter won on the day. I won't let it keep me down. I'll be back, training, at the first chance I get.'.
