PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dong Witt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dong Witt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ryan Davis!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Witt shoots in looking for a takedown but Davis manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Witt's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Davis is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Witt fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Davis dives in and grabs Witt's left leg, looking for a takedown. Witt pushes down on Davis's head and hops out.
Davis scores with a shot to the body.
Davis changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Witt tries to avoid it but Davis manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Witt to the ground. Witt escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

No joy there for Davis, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Witt stuffs the takedown attempt from Davis. Davis gets slowly back to his feet.
Dong Witt has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryan Davis.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Witt gets tackled into the cage by Davis. Davis maintains the clinch.

Davis ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Davis no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Witt wants to stand but Davis has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Witt gets to his feet. Davis looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Witt tries to score a power double leg takedown but Davis sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Witt somewhat.
Witt shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Davis as he avoids it easily.

Witt tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Davis drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Witt gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Davis had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Witt defends it easily.

Davis has his foot on Witt's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Witt works his way back into a safe position though.

Davis instigates a clinch.
Witt is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Davis scores with a knee to the head.
Witt tries to pull guard but Davis forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Davis breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Davis closes the distance and clinches.
Witt looking to stall.

Witt jumps guard and drags Davis to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Witt will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Davis pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Witt is keeping the position for now.
Davis controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Witt is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Davis escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Witt gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Davis controls Witt momentarily but Witt frees himself.
Davis has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Witt is looking to work some ground and pound but Davis has wrist control.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Davis goes for a double leg but Witt avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Witt continues to drive forward.

Davis has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Witt is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Davis tries to bum rush Witt with a series of wild strikes but Witt uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Witt really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Witt is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Davis defends well.

Witt has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Davis can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Witt is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Davis shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Witt but Witt pushes him off and we're back to square one.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Witt tries to close the distance and clinch but Davis swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Davis scores with a shot to the body.
Davis lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Davis scores with a nice strike.
Davis darts in looking for a takedown but Witt gets double underhooks and turns Davis into the cage.
Davis has a takedown stuffed.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Davis leaves Witt with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Davis is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Davis fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ryan Davis comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Davis has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
