Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Calvin England (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and JC Rendon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). JC Rendon has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Calvin England!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, JC Rendon!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Taro Takaoka and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rendon closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into England's guard.
England is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Rendon is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Rendon prevents England from getting back to his feet.
Rendon looking to pass the guard.
England is trying to control the position but Rendon postures up.
Rendon controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
England pulls Rendon in close to his closed guard and prevents Rendon from doing any damage or advancing position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
England throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
England really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Rendon stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Rendon wants it to stay on the feet.

Rendon fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with England, pushing him back against the cage.

Rendon pulls guard effortlessly.
England loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
England has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Rendon looking to hit a scissor sweep but England is one step ahead there.

England avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
England throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Rendon works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
England will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
England wants to get up but he can't break Rendon's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Rendon wants to stand and escape but England is having none of it.

Rendon is trying to keep England in close.

Rendon escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. England gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

England decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Rendon, up you get!
Nice takedown defense from Rendon. No joy for England on that attempt.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Calvin England. That's going to take a lot out of him.

England feints and as Rendon raises his hands in defense, England changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Rendon manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. England manages to get himself to full guard.

England is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
England avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
England wants to control the position but Rendon says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
England has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Rendon is working away from the top position though.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rendon looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks England with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Rendon is nestled in close to England, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
England knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rendon on the ground.
Rendon thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed England's head.
Rendon tries to pass the half guard into mount. England knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Rendon takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Rendon looks winded!
Rendon is pressing down on England's thigh, looking to free his foot. England is holding on for now.

Rendon tries to stand but can't do so whilst England controls his leg.
England wants to get back to his feet.
Rendon thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed England's head.
Still in half guard, Rendon seems content to control.
England is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Rendon is thwarting England's attempts to control the position.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
England is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

JC Rendon dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


A combination from Rendon does no damage.
JC Rendon is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
England shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Rendon but Rendon pushes him off and we're back to square one.
England has a takedown stuffed.
Rendon has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

and England counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

England tries to throw a body punch but Rendon avoids it by throwing England back against the cage.

Rendon wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but England has him pressed against the cage.
Rendon tries to land a knee to the head but England blocks with his arms.
England blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
England wants to stall.

England makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Rendon is breathing heavily.
England shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Rendon as he avoids it easily.
Rendon is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

As Rendon looks to move away, England throws a big counter combo but Rendon just gets out of the way.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from England is defended easily by Rendon.

Rendon fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging England to the ground. Rendon is now in England's guard.
Rendon has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

England keeping moving, preventing Rendon from controlling successfully.
England wants to stand but Rendon is controlling the position.

England bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rendon's guard.

England would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Rendon lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now England is on top in guard.

A close second round but JC Rendon will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


England takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
England throwing a counter right hand but Rendon manages to avoid it.
JC Rendon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rendon bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Rendon tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

JC Rendon is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

JC Rendon comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Rendon has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
