The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schmeldty takes a swing at Rose's ribcage but misses.
Rose appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Schmeldty slips a jab and a cross from Rose.
Schmeldty throws a left and a right that both miss

and Rose counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Rose.
Rose pushes Schmeldty back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Rose pulls Schmeldty into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Schmeldty passes into half guard under a barage of strikes.
Schmeldty is trying to control. Rose wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Rose is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Schmeldty has latched onto it... Big trouble! Schmeldty pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Rose is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Schmeldty!
