The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Pekkis.
Gilmore is looking to counter the offense by Pekkis and move into the clinch.

Pekkis shoots in and gets a takedown into Gilmore's guard.
Gilmore wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Pekkis manages to pass to side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Gilmore is looking for a sweep. Pekkis is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Gilmore really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Gilmore is defending against the submission attempts here by Pekkis.
Pekkis content to control rather than advance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gilmore tries to get to full guard but Pekkis has control of the leg.

Gilmore is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Pekkis pulls his head out easily.
Gilmore is staying active underneath Pekkis, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Pekkis seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Pekkis wants to work for an arm triangle but Gilmore is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Pekkis works his way into side control.
Gilmore is pushing Pekkis's head away, looking to escape. Pekkis manages to hold on to the position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pekkis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gilmore keeps working.
Gilmore is looking for a sweep.
Gilmore is not content to let Pekkis control the position.

Pekkis is trying to get an arm triangle but Gilmore is defending well.
Pekkis gets to mount! Gilmore was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Pekkis lands a couple of good shots and Gilmore has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Pekkis is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Gilmore has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Pekkis has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Gilmore taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Pekkis doesn't care though - he's delighted!
