Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Joe Strummer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Gunn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Strummer's entrance music is The Stranglers- Nice N' Sleazy. A fine choice. Joe Strummer could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Chris Gunn's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joe Strummer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 9 - 1, fighting out of London, Chris Gunn!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Donald Grub and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Strummer appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

Chris Gunn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Strummer has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Strummer there as he acknowledges the shot.

The crowd cheers as Strummer lands an impressive looking overhand right. Gunn doesn't seem phased though.

Gunn lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Gunn swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Gunn keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Strummer drops down looking for a counter takedown but Gunn sprawls and moves away.

Gunn tries to improve position but can't.
Strummer wants to take a breather but Gunn manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Strummer.

Gunn is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Strummer is aware though and is defending well.
Our spies down at at England Fight Club MMA inform us that Gunn has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Strummer is trying to control. Gunn wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Gunn is nestled in close to Strummer, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Strummer has his foot on Gunn's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gunn works his way back into a safe position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gunn working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Strummer doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Strummer manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Chris Gunn showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Strummer's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Gunn avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Gunn keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Gunn might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
A big right from Gunn misses.
Strummer does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Strummer has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Gunn finds it's way round the side to connect with Strummer's head.

and Gunn counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Strummer ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Gunn moves away.
A jab lands there for Gunn.
Strummer is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Gunn lands a jab to Strummer's midsection.
Gunn lands with an uppercut that bounces Strummer off the cage and back into range.
Strummer misses with a body shot.
Gunn has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Gunn's jab looks to have found its range, popping Strummer under the eye.
Strummer takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Gunn tries to close the distance and clinch but Strummer swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Strummer tries to sprawl but Gunn drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Gunn lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Strummer is pressing down on Gunn's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Chris Gunn is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Chris Gunn comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Gunn has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Chris Gunn seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
In defeat, Joe Strummer stepped up to the mic, saying 'Big deal, you beat a dead guy.'.
