Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gordon Mundi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eemeli Markkanen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mundi comes to the cage accompanied by Swallow The Sun - Hold This Woe. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Gordon Mundi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Eemeli Markkanen!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Bruno Lombardi and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice uppercut lands for Markkanen. That snapped Mundi's head back.
Markkanen lands with a straight right. Mundi didn't see that one coming.
Markkanen cracks Mundi with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Mundi misses with an uppercut
and Markkanen counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Mundi throws a looping overhand right but Markkanen ducks down to avoid it.
Mundi looks to land a right hand but Markkanen moved out of range.
Markkanen misses with a takedown attempt
and Mundi counters with a stiff right hand.


It looks like Eemeli Markkanen has been cut.

Markkanen shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Markkanen was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Markkanen is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Mundi has escaped the position, nice work there.
Mundi is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Markkanen is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mundi is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Markkanen wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Mundi, who protects the arm well.
Mundi is looking to regain half guard here but Markkanen keeps moving and retains side control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Markkanen swings around for an armbar but Mundi sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Markkanen's guard.
Mundi seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Markkanen is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Markkanen is looking for a triangle here but Mundi uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Markkanen can't do much from the bottom here.
Mundi wants to lay and pray for a moment but Markkanen keeps working.
Mundi takes a little break here. Markkanen wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Mundi knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Markkanen on the ground.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The crowd cheers as Markkanen lands an impressive looking overhand right. Mundi doesn't seem phased though.

Oooooh!!! Mundi has knocked Markkanen down with a huge combo! Mundi steps away and waves a wobbly Markkanen back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Markkanen might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Mundi takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Markkanen digs a good body shot into Mundi's ribs.

and Mundi counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.


That has opened up Eemeli Markkanen's cut even more.
Gordon Mundi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eemeli Markkanen.

It looked like Mundi wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Mundi is staying active underneath Markkanen, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Markkanen slips a straight right by Mundi.
And Markkanen tries to counter it with a takedown but Mundi pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Eemeli Markkanen's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Eemeli Markkanen's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
