Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Meguru Takayanagi!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Siggy Duncan!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Dean Styles and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Takayanagi uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Duncan.
Duncan throws a series of punches but Takayanagi avoids them all with ease.
Duncan looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Takayanagi drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Takayanagi fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Duncan has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Meguru Takayanagi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Duncan throws an overhand right that lands on Takayanagi's shoulder, as Takayanagi tries to avoid the shot.
Takayanagi throws a nice outside leg kick.
Takayanagi lands a slapping body shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Takayanagi misses with a low kick.
Duncan clobbers Takayanagi with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Takayanagi shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Duncan sprawls well. Duncan wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Takayanagi gets slowly back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Takayanagi gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Takayanagi bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Duncan's guard.


Takayanagi is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Duncan keeping moving, preventing Takayanagi from controlling successfully.
Takayanagi passes into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Duncan is not content to let Takayanagi control the position.
Duncan tries to roll over but Takayanagi keeps him under control.
Takayanagi trying to pass the guard but Duncan defending well.

Takayanagi performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Duncan tries to get to full guard but Takayanagi has control of the leg.

Takayanagi wants to lay and pray for a moment but Duncan keeps working.
Duncan is trying to control but can't.
Takayanagi trying to control the action but Duncan is working from the bottom.
Duncan trying to control but Takayanagi postures up.
Takayanagi seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Duncan drives through with a takedown into guard.
Duncan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Takayanagi swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Duncan looking to sit in guard and control but Takayanagi gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Duncan wants to sweep here but Takayanagi controlling him for the moment.
Duncan wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Takayanagi is now in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Siggy Duncan will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Duncan is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Nice shot lands for Duncan.
Duncan tries to clinch up.

Duncan checks a low kick from Takayanagi.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Duncan shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Duncan was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Takayanagi is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Duncan's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Takayanagi has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Duncan. Oh but Takayanagi has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Duncan goes limp - he's gone! Takayanagi jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Meguru Takayanagi!

Meguru Takayanagi very nearly forgot to thank Fatty's amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
Siggy Duncan was interviewed post fight and said 'I knew this was going to be a tough fight. But you gotta fight the best, to be the best. I'll be back. '.
