Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lavonde Tyrone!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Johny Hendricks!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Chad Campbell and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hendricks slaps away a takedown attempt from Tyrone, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Tyrone moves into the clinch.
Hendricks goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Hendricks tries to work over Tyrone's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Hendricks lands a hook to the side of the head.
Tyrone manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Hendricks misses with a body punch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hendricks wants to get back to striking at distance but Tyrone won't allow it.
Hendricks can't find room to land a body shot as Tyrone controls the action.
Tyrone has hold of one of Hendricks's legs. Hendricks is fighting the takedown attempt but Tyrone gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Tyrone tries to free his leg and advance position but Hendricks is retaining full guard.
Hendricks can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Tyrone controls the pace.
Tyrone is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Tyrone slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Tyrone throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hendricks works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Tyrone has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Tyrone prevents Hendricks from getting back to his feet.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hendricks can do anything to dispel that myth.
Tyrone throws a big right hand that misses.
Hendricks scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Tyrone shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Hendricks napping and manages to drive through into side control!
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hendricks tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Tyrone has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Hendricks is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Tyrone yanks on the arm and Hendricks is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Tyrone.
