Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Steven Hurst (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Fernandez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Steven Hurst!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Dan Fernandez!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Phil Schofield and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fernandez swinging wildly here.

Fernandez darts in and clinches Hurst up against the cage.

Hurst has Fernandez pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Hurst pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Fernandez tumbling to the mat - Hurst dives into Fernandez's guard.
Hurst is in close to Fernandez's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Fernandez tries to land a sweep but no joy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fernandez is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Hurst is controlling him.

Fernandez is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hurst is aware though and is defending well.

Fernandez is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Hurst won't allow Fernandez to sweep him here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fernandez manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Hurst tries to pull guard but Fernandez forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Hurst wants a takedown.
Hurst drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Fernandez breaks from the clinch.
Fernandez shoots for a double leg takedown but Hurst sprawls well. He's pushed Fernandez's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Horrible takedown attempt by Fernandez or perhaps it was just good defense by Hurst, which made it look bad.

Fernandez closes the distance and clinches.
Hurst could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Fernandez drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Fernandez gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Hurst pushes Fernandez off looking to stand but Fernandez dives back in and keeps control.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hurst is trying to control but can't.
Hurst is trying to stand back up but Fernandez is controlling him
Hurst wants to control but Fernandez is keeping busy.

Fernandez throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Hurst to regain full guard.
Fernandez works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Hurst is staying active underneath Fernandez, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Hurst is refusing to be controlled, as Fernandez sits in half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Fernandez connects with a body shot that sends Hurst's belly button to the back.

Fernandez drives through and clinches with Hurst against the cage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Fernandez wants a takedown but no success here.
Fernandez tries for a takedown but Hurst manages to get underhooks.
Hurst is looking for a takedown.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dan Fernandez dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Hurst tries a head kick but it misses.
Dan Fernandez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hurst looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Hurst leaves Fernandez with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Hurst lands with a kick to the temple. Fernandez shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Fernandez dives in and grabs Hurst's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hurst pushes down on Fernandez's head and hops out.

and Fernandez counters by clinching up.
Hurst has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Fernandez avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Hurst tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Fernandez just stands there and leans against the cage.
Fernandez lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

Fernandez pulls Hurst into guard.
Fernandez wants to sweep here but Hurst controlling him for the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fernandez throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Dan Fernandez has got the better of the ground game so far.
Fernandez is pulling down on Hurst's head to control his posture.

Hurst got a little sloppy there for a moment and Fernandez has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hurst has managed to get both his arms back between Fernandez's legs - danger averted.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Fernandez wants to sweep here but Hurst controlling him for the moment.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Fernandez pulls Hurst in close to his closed guard and prevents Hurst from doing any damage or advancing position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Hurst wants to clinch up but Fernandez keeps it at a distance.
Fernandez tries for a takedown but Hurst sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Hurst thinks about countering with a body kick.

Dan Fernandez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Fernandez changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Fernandez looks to throw the jab but Hurst is out of range.
Fernandez tries to score a power double leg takedown but Hurst sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Fernandez somewhat.

and Hurst counters with a three punch combo that has Fernandez backing up. Fernandez nods at Hurst to acknowledge the strikes.

Hurst leaves Fernandez with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
The fight stays on the outside here - Fernandez looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Hurst tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Fernandez manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Hurst throws a wild body kick that Fernandez sees coming a mile off.
Hurst slaps away a takedown attempt from Fernandez, before circling back to the center of the mat.
And Hurst counters with a quick kick to the body but Fernandez blocks it.
Fernandez uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hurst.

Hurst looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Fernandez is fending him off so far but Hurst persists. Nope, Fernandez circles away and we're back to standing.

Fernandez pushes Hurst off but Hurst dives into side control.
Fernandez tries to buck Hurst off but Hurst is having none of it.
Hurst throws an elbow but Fernandez slips to the side and avoids it well.
Hurst wants to control but Fernandez is keeping him busy.
Fernandez gets back to half guard.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hurst connects with a nice short shot to Fernandez's temple.
Fernandez keeps control of the position for the meantime.
