Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Spencer Rivera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hunter Sobczak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Spencer Rivera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hunter Sobczak!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Alec Ball and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sobczak tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Rivera paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Sobczak just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromRivera.
Sobczak lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Rivera backs up against the cage.


It looks like Spencer Rivera has been cut.
Rivera avoids the head kick by Sobczak.
Rivera seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Sobczak wants to clinch.
Sobczak throws a body kick that misses.
Sobczak throws a series of punches but Rivera avoids them all with ease.
Rivera is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Horrible takedown attempt by Rivera or perhaps it was just good defense by Sobczak, which made it look bad.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sobczak drives through with a takedown into Rivera's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Sobczak controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Rivera keeping moving, preventing Sobczak from controlling successfully.
Rivera might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Rivera isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Sobczak stacks Rivera on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Sobczak!

Sobczak stands up and we're back to a striking position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Rivera enables Sobczak to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Rivera manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Rivera is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Sobczak avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Rivera keeping moving, preventing Sobczak from controlling successfully.
Sobczak missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Sobczak wants to control from the top but Rivera keeps moving.
Sobczak is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Rivera tries to sprawl but Sobczak drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Sobczak thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Rivera's head.
Rivera is looking to control Sobczak's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Rivera avoid being mounted?
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Sobczak looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Rivera counters by clinching up.
Rivera is working for takedown but Sobczak is calmly controlling the position for now.

Sobczak breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Sobczak rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Rivera moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Rivera is looking to counter the offense by Sobczak and move into the clinch.
Sobczak fails with an attempt to clinch.
Sobczak lands a nice shot to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sobczak doesn't manage to clinch there - Rivera circles away.
Sobczak throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Rivera.
Rivera tries to counter by clinching up but Sobczak breaks away and moves out of range.
Sobczak lands a head kick. Rivera smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Hunter Sobczak is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Sobczak breaks the clinch.
Sobczak tries to clinch up.
Rivera throws a quick counter head kick but Sobczak was just out of range.

Sobczak shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Rivera manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hunter Sobczak has got the better of the ground game so far.

Rivera is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Sobczak defends well.
Sobczak has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Rivera has an active guard here but Sobczak has managed to pass into half guard.
Rivera is refusing to be controlled, as Sobczak sits in half guard.

Rivera is trying to maintain the position but Sobczak is very close to passing his half guard.
Rivera wants to get back to full guard.
Rivera gets back to full guard.

Rivera working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sobczak doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sobczak manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Sobczak not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Sobczak stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Sobczak changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Rivera looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Sobczak wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rivera keeps working.
Sobczak is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Rivera will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hunter Sobczak showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Sobczak lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Rivera circles away quickly and effectively.
Rivera tries to counter by clinching up but Sobczak breaks away and moves out of range.

Rivera wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.

Sobczak darts in and clinches Rivera up against the cage.
The referee is keeping an eye on Rivera - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Sobczak gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

Sobczak breaks from the clinch.
Hunter Sobczak seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sobczak is looking to clinch.
Sobczak jabs Rivera to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Sobczak moves to clinch but Rivera breaks away
and Rivera counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Rivera really is a fat lump.

Sobczak seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Rivera does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Sobczak keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Sobczak throws a right and a left that Rivera avoids nicely.
Sobczak just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromRivera.

Sobczak fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Rivera, pushing him back against the cage.

Sobczak breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Sobczak changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Rivera looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Rivera throws Sobczak to one side and escapes!
Hunter Sobczak seems to be getting the better of the standup.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Sobczak moves into the clinch.

Sobczak's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Sobczak tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rivera swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Sobczak shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Rivera manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Sobczak wants to control from the top but Rivera keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sobczak throws an elbow that misses. Rivera uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Sobczak's guard. Nice move by Rivera!

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Rivera's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Sobczak has his foot on Rivera's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rivera works his way back into a safe position though.
Rivera won't allow Sobczak to get back to his feet.
Rivera lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Rivera throwing strikes but missing.
Hunter Sobczak is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Hunter Sobczak comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Sobczak has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
