The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McIntyre tries for a takedown but Spijkers sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Spijkers looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
McIntyre looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Spijkers is fending him off so far but McIntyre persists. Nope, Spijkers circles away and we're back to standing.
McIntyre tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Spijkers swivels and escapes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tom McIntyre. That's going to take a lot out of him.
McIntyre tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Spijkers defends well and McIntyre ends up having to push Spijkers into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

McIntyre looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McIntyre is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Spijkers!
Spijkers wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by McIntyre.

McIntyre is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
McIntyre shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Spijkers sprawls well. Spijkers wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. McIntyre gets slowly back to his feet.
Nice takedown defense from Spijkers. No joy for McIntyre on that attempt.
McIntyre shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Spijkers but Spijkers pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Spijkers fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. McIntyre looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

McIntyre goes for a double leg but Spijkers avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Spijkers continues to drive forward.
Spijkers lands a glancing blow to the side of McIntyre's head.

Spijkers bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of McIntyre's head.
McIntyre fails with the takedown
and Spijkers connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
McIntyre takes a shot to the body in his stride.

McIntyre gets the takedown into side control.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
McIntyre wants to lay and pray for a moment but Spijkers keeps working.
Spijkers is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
