Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gus McKenna (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kyrie Perry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Kyrie Perry!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Anni Minnemäki and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McKenna scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
McKenna takes a body punch but keeps moving.
McKenna swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Perry uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by McKenna.
McKenna with a nice cross.
McKenna lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Perry throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Perry throws a hook but McKenna avoids it easily.
McKenna displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Perry throws out the jab.

Perry shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts McKenna as he jumps to the side.
McKenna takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Gus McKenna seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

enabling McKenna to counter with a crisp jab.
Perry looks to throw the jab but McKenna is out of range.
A looping hook to the body misses from Perry. McKenna does a little dance to reset his feet.
McKenna scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

Perry looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Perry throws a hook to the side of McKenna's head but McKenna sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

McKenna drives through and clinches with Perry against the cage.

Perry lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Perry content to slow the pace in the clinch.

A little jabbing left from Perry on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Perry changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. McKenna looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The ground and pound from Perry seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

McKenna parries the strikes from Perry easily there. Perry is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable McKenna to escape.
McKenna tries to improve position but can't.
Perry wants to control but McKenna is keeping him busy.
Perry misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Perry wants to control for a moment but McKenna uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Perry is thwarting McKenna's attempts to control the position.
Perry thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed McKenna's head.

McKenna tried to counter with a leg kick but Perry avoided it.
Perry takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Perry needs to keep his hands up - McKenna had a free shot at his head there.
McKenna swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and McKenna takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
McKenna tries to score with a low kick but Perry moves his leg out of the way.
Perry tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Perry tries to bum rush McKenna with a series of wild strikes but McKenna uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Perry takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

McKenna bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Perry clobbers McKenna with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

As McKenna backs off Perry throws a huge counter combo but McKenna manages to avoid it all.

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by McKenna.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

McKenna has his hands clasped together around Perry's back. He's all about the action.
Perry is nestled in close to McKenna, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Perry tries to pass to full mount but McKenna defends it.

Perry is thwarting McKenna's attempts to control the position.

McKenna has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Perry is working away from the top position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McKenna is not content to let Perry control the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

And an attempted straight right on the counter from Perry! But no joy.
McKenna tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Perry manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Kyrie Perry comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
