The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Viulu has Diotte up against the cage in a clinch.
Viulu swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Viulu is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Viulu lands a body shot.
Viulu has a couple of punches blocked by Diotte.
Diotte avoids the elbow strike from Viulu, against the cage.
Diotte tries a body shot but Viulu blocks it.

We've been informed that Viulu has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Viulu tries to work over Diotte's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Diotte has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Viulu after a bit of a struggle.

Viulu takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Viulu stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Diotte.
Viulu takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Viulu misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
No joy there for Diotte, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Viulu throws a counter combo.
Diotte swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
enabling Viulu to counter with a crisp jab.
Viulu will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Diotte looks to land a left hand but Viulu moved out of range nicely.

Viulu darts in looking for a takedown but Diotte gets double underhooks and turns Viulu into the cage.

Diotte throws a chopping leg kick but Viulu manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Viulu throws a series of punches but Diotte avoids them all with ease.
Diotte moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Diotte cracks Viulu with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Viulu tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Diotte pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Viulu is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

In his post fight interview, Andrew Diotte started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
