PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rodrick Kidd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Bill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rodrick Kidd!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jack Bill!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Leandro Rodrigues and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kidd closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Bill struggling a bit here.
Bill tries to buck Kidd off but Kidd is having none of it.
Bill parries the strikes from Kidd easily there. Kidd is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Bill to escape.
Kidd lands some shots froms side control.
Bill is looking for a sweep.
Kidd in side control lands a decent elbow.
Kidd in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Bill regains half guard, as Kidd was trying to land strikes.
Bill keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Kidd is thwarting Bill's attempts to control the position.
Bill keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Kidd not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Kidd lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Kidd sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Bill defending well though.
Bill is trying to stand.
Bill works his way to full guard. Good work.
Kidd working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Kidd working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Bill's head.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Bill is looking for a triangle but Kidd pushes his legs off easily.
Kidd has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Kidd throws a strike but Bill rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Bill got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kidd has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bill has managed to get both his arms back between Kidd's legs - danger averted.

Bill avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kidd is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Bill is aware though and is defending well.
Kidd is breathing heavily.
Bill stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kidd swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Kidd isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Bill stacks Kidd on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Bill!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Bill looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Kidd throws a few strikes from the bottom but Bill takes advantage and mounts!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bill punishing his opponent with strikes.

Bill jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Kidd is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Kidd and Bill has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Rodrick Kidd will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

and Bill counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Bill.

Kidd pushes Bill off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Bill is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Bill displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Kidd.
Despite the aggression on Bill's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kidd shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Bill wants to sweep but no luck.
Kidd is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Bill can do to turn this around?

Kidd with a flurry of punches that miss.

Bill had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Kidd defends it easily.
Kidd throwing strikes from guard but Bill blocks nicely.

Bill is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Kidd defends well.

Kidd gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Kidd fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Jack Bill is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Kidd gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Bill counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rodrick Kidd. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Bill is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Kidd as he works his way to full guard.

Kidd throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Bill is just content to waste time from the top position. Kidd takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Bill passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Bill has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bill throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Jack Bill will probably get the nod - 10:9.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Kidd walks into a stiff left hand from Bill.
Kidd shoots in looking for a takedown. Bill tries to sprawl out of it but Kidd keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Bill manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Bill throws a counter combo.
Kidd shoots in for a double leg but Bill sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Bill looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Kidd shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Bill defends it nicely.

Kidd throws a sloppy strike and Bill has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! Kidd is forced to tap! Great BJJ from Bill!
