The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Valcucianes shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Mclean is trying to defend but Valcucianes finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Mclean controlling the position for now.
Mclean manages to get to full guard.
Valcucianes being controlled here momentarily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mclean could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Valcucianes is looking to stand up but Mclean won't let him.
Mclean seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Valcucianes will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Mclean seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

Valcucianes manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Mclean on his heels. He'll look to pass Mclean's guard now, I'm sure.

Mclean uses the cage to get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Mclean enables Valcucianes to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Mclean manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Mclean has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Valcucianes has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Mclean holds on and takes a little breather.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Valcucianes is sitting in close to Mclean's body. Mclean has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Valcucianes is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Valcucianes is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Mclean.
