PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Troy Morin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lance Carr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Troy Morin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Lance Carr!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Ben Zyskovitsi and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Carr shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Morin wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Carr manages to pass to side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.


Carr is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Morin looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Carr passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Morin!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carr controlling the pace for now.
Morin working to try and regain half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Carr is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Morin can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Morin is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Carr swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Morin is now in Carr's guard. A big mistake from Carr there, giving up the dominant position!
Carr has control of Morin's left arm, preventing Morin from doing any damage.
Carr looking for a sweep. Not yet Carr, not yet.
Morin trying to control but Carr is working from the bottom.

Carr looking for a guillotine here but Morin defends easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Carr has Morin pulled in close to control his posture.

Carr looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Carr tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Carr working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Morin doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Morin manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Morin cracks Carr with a solid left hand.

Carr has his hands on Morin's head, controlling the position.

Carr is looking for a triangle but Morin pushes his legs off easily.
Morin loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Carr pulls Morin in close to his closed guard and prevents Morin from doing any damage or advancing position.
Carr looking for a sweep. Not yet Carr, not yet.
Morin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Carr on the ground.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Morin makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Morin trying to control the position from guard on top but Carr is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Morin will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Carr is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Morin trying to control but Carr is working from the bottom.
Carr looking for a sweep. Not yet Carr, not yet.
Carr pulls Morin in close to prevent any damage.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Carr is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Morin postures up and lands a big shot to Carr's brow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lance Carr dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Morin closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Carr explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Morin really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Carr shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Morin's guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Morin has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Carr is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Morin.
Carr wants to control but Morin is keeping him busy.
Morin gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Carr looking to control and managing it successfully.

Carr jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Morin manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Carr is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Morin's shoulder. That is not cool.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Carr tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Morin gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Carr prevents Morin from improving his position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Carr works his way into full mount!
Carr controlling from mount.
Carr is continuing to stall.
Morin working to try and regain half guard.
Carr has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Carr looking for a guillotine from mount but Morin is having none of it.
Carr moves to the back.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Morin tries to escape the position.
Carr controls the action.
Morin is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

Carr is working for the choke. It looks like he might have got it... has he...? Yes! Morin is tapping out! This one is all over!
