PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between George Carlin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pranav Kumaran (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Carlin might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Architects of Life. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, George Carlin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Pranav Kumaran!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Daniel Franklin and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carlin throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kumaran's waist but Kumaran gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Carlin off to one side.
Kumaran misses with a head kick.
Carlin tries to counter by clinching up but Kumaran breaks away and moves out of range.
Kumaran slaps away a takedown attempt from Carlin, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Carlin fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for George Carlin. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Carlin blocks a head kick by Kumaran.
Kumaran leaves Carlin with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Carlin closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kumaran to the mat! Kumaran manages to get full guard.

Carlin is trying to trip Kumaran. He has hold of a leg but Kumaran is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Carlin persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Kumaran pushes Carlin off and scrambles back to his feet.

Kumaran has managed to clinch.
Carlin goes for a takedown attempt but Kumaran pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Kumaran gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Carlin has Kumaran pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Kumaran manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Carlin drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Carlin has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Kumaran after a bit of a struggle.
Kumaran is pressed up against the cage. Carlin has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Kumaran down to the mat. Kumaran avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Carlin changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kumaran tries to avoid it but Carlin manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kumaran to the ground. Kumaran escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
As Carlin backs off Kumaran throws a huge counter combo but Carlin manages to avoid it all.
Kumaran tries a head kick but it misses.

Kumaran gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Kumaran gets underhooks to prevent Carlin's takedown attempt.
Carlin tries for a takedown but Kumaran manages to get underhooks.

Carlin wants the takedown. Kumaran is fighting it off but Carlin persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Kumaran's guard against the cage.

Kumaran is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Carlin is controlling him.
Carlin lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Carlin postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Carlin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kumaran on the ground.

Kumaran is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Kumaran is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Kumaran is looking to stand up but Carlin isn't so interested in that idea.
Kumaran has momentary wrist control but Carlin slips an elbow through the middle.
Carlin works over Kumaran with some ground and pound from guard.
Carlin won't allow Kumaran to get back to his feet.
Carlin has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Carlin distracts Kumaran with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Kumaran has momentary wrist control but Carlin slips an elbow through the middle.

Kumaran is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Carlin presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Carlin is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Kumaran can't fight it off and eventually Carlin manages to take the fight to the floor. Kumaran looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Carlin looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Kumaran can't hide his disappointment, as Carlin celebrates the victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:20 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). George Carlin!
A relieved looking George Carlin thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
