The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thomas looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Takasugi is fending him off so far but Thomas persists. Nope, Takasugi circles away and we're back to standing.
Takasugi throws a right and a left that Thomas avoids nicely.

Thomas fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Takasugi sprawls well initially but Thomas persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Takasugi is trying to stand up here but Thomas is controlling him well.
Takasugi makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Takasugi.
Takasugi looking to hit a scissor sweep but Thomas is one step ahead there.

Thomas is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Takasugi has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Thomas is looking to defend but Takasugi has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Thomas! Takasugi pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Thomas taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Keisuke Takasugi!
