Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frankie Hanson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maurice Techi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Maurice Techi has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Maurice Techi!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Chris Downing and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Hanson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Techi sprawls well initially but Hanson persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Hanson throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Hanson escapes and gets back to his feet.

Techi gets caught flat footed, as Hanson shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Techi is trying to keep Hanson in close.
Hanson sitting in guard, not really doing much.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hanson is in close to Techi's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Hanson engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Hanson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Techi controls Hanson momentarily but Hanson frees himself.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Hanson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Techi wants to control but Hanson postures up.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Techi avoids the head kick by Hanson.
Hanson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Techi changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Frankie Hanson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hanson throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Techi on the side of the head.

Hanson has Techi up against the cage in a clinch.

Techi turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Hanson is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
A bit of a lull in the action here.
Hanson tries to improve position but can't.
Hanson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Techi tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Techi working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Hanson manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Hanson decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Techi checks a leg kick.
Techi lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

Hanson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Techi is breathing heavily.

Hanson decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Hanson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Techi is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Techi takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Hanson rushes Techi and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Hanson is trying to trip Techi. He has hold of a leg but Techi is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Hanson persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Hanson gets to his feet. Techi looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

A jab from Hanson does it's job there.
Hanson lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Hanson connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Techi's hands.

Hanson shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Techi napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Hanson stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Hanson throws a head kick but Techi moves out of range.

Hanson rushes Techi and presses him up against the cage.

Hanson lands a takedown into guard.
Techi is trying to keep Hanson in close.
Techi might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Hanson haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Hanson is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Hanson gets to his feet - Techi follows without any prompting.
Hanson throws a sloppy head kick and Techi moves out of range easily.
Techi with the counter takedown but Hanson avoids it easily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hanson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frankie Hanson dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Hanson drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Techi takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Techi is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Techi preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Hanson decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Techi, up you get!
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Hanson gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Hanson wants the takedown. Techi is fighting it off but Hanson persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Techi's guard against the cage.

Hanson gets to his feet - Techi follows without any prompting.

Hanson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Hanson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Hanson controls the position from side control.
Hanson cracks Techi with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Hanson has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Hanson throws a head kick but Techi moves out of range.
Techi unleashes a big counter combination but Hanson bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Hanson looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Techi trying to control from the bottom.

Hanson stands up and beckons Techi to join him on the feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Hanson shoots in and bounces Techi off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hanson throws a big right hand that misses.

And that's the end of the fight!
Frankie Hanson showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Hanson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
