PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jola Kaalipaa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nguyen Hoang Minh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kaalipaa comes into the arena with Darude / Sandstorm blaring out of the sound system. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jola Kaalipaa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Nguyen Hoang Minh!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Chris Edwards and Sam Margolis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kaalipaa gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Kaalipaa manages to pull guard.
Kaalipaa looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hoang Minh is one step ahead there.
Kaalipaa throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Hoang Minh must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Kaalipaa is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Kaalipaa throwing shots but Hoang Minh is blocking nicely.
Hoang Minh wants to control but Kaalipaa is keeping busy.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kaalipaa looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Hoang Minh takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Kaalipaa can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Hoang Minh is looking to escape.

Kaalipaa jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Hoang Minh manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Kaalipaa tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kaalipaa has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Kaalipaa is trying to get an arm triangle but Hoang Minh is defending well.

Kaalipaa is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Hoang Minh looks calm but he's in trouble here. Kaalipaa gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Hoang Minh is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Kaalipaa lets go of the hold and Hoang Minh can pop his arm back in it's socket.
