Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bobby Parent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Zal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nick Zal has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bobby Parent!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nick Zal!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Eddie Farnsworth and Jorge Garcia.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Parent digs a good hook to Zal's body.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Parent. Zal shrugs it off though.
Zal misses with a jab, cross combination.

Parent feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Zal is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Zal is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Parent is controlling him.
Zal can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Parent controls the pace.

Parent drops back looking for a leg! Zal is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Zal manages to kick Parent off! Parent jumps back into Zal's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Parent working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Zal's head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Zal wants to stand but Parent is controlling the position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Zal can do anything to dispel that myth.
Parent throws a big right hand that misses.
Zal is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Parent is controlling him.

Parent is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Parent lands a couple of elbows.
Zal really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Parent. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Parent postures up and lands a big shot to Zal's brow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Parent is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Parent thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Parent pushing down on Zal's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Parent is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Zal is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
