The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bjarnason dives in and grabs Ahmad's left leg, looking for a takedown. Ahmad pushes down on Bjarnason's head and hops out.
Ahmad is looking for the big counter here.
Ahmad looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Ahmad enables Bjarnason to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Ahmad manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Bjarnason seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Ahmad really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bjarnason. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Bjarnason is working Ahmad over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Ahmad has momentary wrist control but Bjarnason slips an elbow through the middle.
Bjarnason is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bjarnason gets to his feet. Ahmad looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Bjarnason shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ahmad's guard.
Ahmad is still in real trouble! Can Bjarnason finish him?
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Bjarnason loads up on a big left hand. Ahmad felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Bjarnason looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Ahmad can't hide his disappointment, as Bjarnason celebrates the victory.
