Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between David Luiz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fyodor Pending (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Luiz swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Pending.
Luiz scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Luiz scores with a hook to the body. Pending takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Luiz closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Pending quickly recovers to half guard.
Pending makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Pending.

Luiz avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Luiz got a little sloppy there for a moment and Pending has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Luiz has managed to get both his arms back between Pending's legs - danger averted.
Luiz is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Pending has momentary wrist control but Luiz slips an elbow through the middle.

We've been hearing good reports from Luiz's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Pending has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Luiz is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Pending.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pending tries to buck Luiz off but Luiz is having none of it.
Luiz lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Pending down.

Luiz decides to stand back up. Luiz steps back and let's Pending get back to his feet.

Luiz is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Pending's shoulder. That is not cool.

Pending is looking to regain half guard here but Luiz keeps moving and retains side control.

Pending wants to control but Luiz postures up.
Pending tries to improve position but can't.
