The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Ward has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Ward rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Mannelly moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Mannelly ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ward moves away.
Mannelly tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Ward throws a body shot but no joy.
Some bone on bone action there as Ward checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Mannelly takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Mannelly tries to land a front kick but Ward steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Mannelly displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Ward throws out the jab.
Ward looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Ward throws a hook to the side of Mannelly's head but Mannelly sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ward on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Mannelly tries to score with a low kick but Ward moves his leg out of the way.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Ward crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Mannelly - the referee stops the clock and Ward gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Mannelly. Ward manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Ward throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Greg Ward will probably get the nod.

Mannelly wants to slow Ward down by chopping away at his legs.

Ward drops Mannelly with a beautiful combination! Mannelly stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Ward is looking for the KO!

and Ward counters with a huge left! Mannelly is in big trouble! He's backing up but Ward isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Mannelly from any more damage. A dominating finish by Ward!

A relieved looking Greg Ward thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
