Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hugh Honey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Henry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Honey comes to the cage accompanied by Higher Love. Hugh Honey has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Michael Henry!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Wesley Smith and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Henry scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Honey has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Henry is thwarting Honey's attempts to control the position.
Honey tries to get to full guard but Henry has control of the leg.
Honey keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Henry takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Honey wants to improve his position but Henry is controlling well.

Henry looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Henry is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Honey is just riding it out for now. Henry eventually gives up the hold.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Henry wants to control but Honey is keeping him busy.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Henry has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Henry throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Honey because Henry loaded up on that one.

Henry shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Honey pinned against the cage. Honey gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Henry closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Honey's guard.
Honey is looking to stand back up but Henry counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Honey.
Henry has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Henry throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Honey connects with a body shot that sends Henry's belly button to the back.
Henry is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.
Honey fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

It looks like Michael Henry has been cut.
Hugh Honey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Michael Henry.

and Honey counters with a lovely straight right hand!

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
No joy there for Honey, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Honey ducks under a wild hook from Henry.
Honey throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Henry.

Honey gets caught napping as Henry dives in and scores a takedown. Honey manages to retain guard.
