Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tachyon Illumina!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brandon Powers!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Powers shoots for a double leg takedown but Illumina sprawls well. He's pushed Powers's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Powers shoots in but Illumina avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Illumina throws a quick counter head kick but Powers was just out of range.
Powers tries to bum rush Illumina with a series of wild strikes but Illumina uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Powers just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromIllumina.
Powers moves into the clinch.
Illumina is trying to break the clinch but Powers is controlling him.
Powers is trying to trip Illumina. He has hold of a leg but Illumina is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Powers persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Illumina controls Powers momentarily but Powers frees himself.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Powers with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Illumina looking to control but Powers passes into half guard.
Illumina is looking for a sweep. Powers is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Powers has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Powers uses his free foot to push down on Illumina's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Illumina.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Illumina is desperately trying to improve his position but Powers has a good base and remains in mount.
Illumina takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Illumina tries to hold on but Powers pushes him away.
Illumina working to try and regain half guard.
Powers controlling his opponent.
Let's hope that Powers has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Illumina tries to improve his position but Powers has taken his back! Powers has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Illumina tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Powers pushes Illumina away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
