Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Clyde Haley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nate Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Diaz has a pretty significant injury - he really shouldn't be fighting right now but he's a warrior and he's here none the less! There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Haley swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Haley could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Haley is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Diaz can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Diaz's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Haley rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Diaz moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

It looked like Haley wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Diaz tries to keep at a distance but Haley has taken the fight into the clinch.

Haley wants the takedown. Diaz is fighting it off but Haley persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Diaz's guard against the cage.

Diaz has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Haley off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

and Haley counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Haley lands with a kick to the temple. Diaz shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Haley turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Haley manages to end up in side control.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
