Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bernard McGinn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Carr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McGinn comes to the cage accompanied by March of Cambreadth . Bernard McGinn has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bernard McGinn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Carr!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice cross by Carr.
McGinn slips a jab from Carr.
Carr throws a hook but McGinn avoids it easily.
McGinn closes this distance looking for a takedown but Carr circles away.
McGinn darts in looking for a takedown but Carr gets double underhooks and turns McGinn into the cage.
A countering left hand to the body from Carr misses.
Carr fails in his attempt to clinch.
McGinn attempts a counter takedown but Carr avoids it well and moves away.
McGinn fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bernard McGinn. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carr throws an uppercut from half a mile away. McGinn sees it coming and avoids it easily.
McGinn changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Carr lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Carr throws a body shot but no joy.

Carr lands a nice shot that snaps McGinn's head back.
Carr has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Carr throws a hook to the side of McGinn's head but McGinn sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Carr clinches with his opponent.

McGinn tightens his grip and picks Carr up, before dumping him to the ground. Carr manages to land in guard.

Carr has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes McGinn off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Carr ducks down and throws a hook to the body but McGinn moves away.
McGinn takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

McGinn closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Carr quickly recovers to half guard.

McGinn is working for a submission of some sort.
Carr is looking to improve his position.

Carr looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Carr is doing well to control the position and prevent McGinn from advancing to side control.

Carr gets full guard.

Carr working for a triangle but McGinn defends it easily.
Carr has his hands on McGinn's head, controlling the position.

McGinn is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Carr has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but McGinn can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
McGinn working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Carr is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Carr is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

McGinn with a flurry of punches that miss.

Carr is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and McGinn defends well.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

McGinn drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Carr manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now McGinn has Carr in his guard.

McGinn drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McGinn is trying to get an arm triangle but Carr is defending well.
Carr is trying to control McGinn's posture but McGinn avoids it.
Carr is trying to improve his position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

McGinn is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Carr has escaped the position, nice work there.
Carr is looking for a sweep.
You can see the frustration on Carr's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Carr is looking to work his way out of this bad position but McGinn is controlling him well.

McGinn utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Carr is looking to work some ground and pound but McGinn has wrist control.
Carr has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
McGinn utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Carr postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! McGinn is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Carr, into his guard.

Carr has McGinn pulled in close to control his posture.

Carr working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. McGinn doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. McGinn manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

That was a close second round but I would say that Bernard McGinn will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Joe Carr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Carr stuffs the takedown attempt from McGinn. McGinn gets slowly back to his feet.

Carr lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Joe Carr comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Carr has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
