Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jordan Kandle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Johny Hendricks!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, David Schapiro and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kandle fails in his attempt to clinch.
Hendricks looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Kandle shoots in looking for a takedown. Hendricks tries to sprawl out of it but Kandle keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hendricks manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Kandle fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
A countering left hand to the body from Hendricks misses.
Hendricks scores with a nice strike.
Hendricks has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Kandle is landing a low percentage of strikes.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kandle shoots in and drives through. Hendricks sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jordan Kandle. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hendricks connects with the punch.
It looks like Jordan Kandle has been cut.

Kandle pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Kandle looks for a takedown but Hendricks sprawls well.
Hendricks avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Hendricks! But no joy.
Hendricks misses with a wild combination.
Nice takedown defense from Hendricks. No joy for Kandle on that attempt.
Hendricks throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Kandle shoots in and drives through. Hendricks sprawls well.
Kandle takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Kandle is breathing heavily.
Hendricks connects with a single shot there.
Kandle moves forwards but Hendricks connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Kandle takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kandle needs to keep his hands up - Hendricks had a free shot at his head there.
Jordan Kandle's cut is getting worse.
Hendricks connects with a body shot.
Hendricks drops Kandle with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Kandle looks back up at him and smiles so Hendricks waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Kandle is rocked!
BAM! Hendricks delivers a spinning backfist that drops Kandle like a ragdoll! This is all oooooveeeer! He was out before he hit the ground!

In his post fight interview, Johny Hendricks started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
