PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kaye Wong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Davison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Davison is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Not Today by Sevendust. The key to victory for Kaye Wong has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 1, fighting out of New York, Kaye Wong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chris Davison!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Valeri Chadov and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wong misses with a left hand
and Davison counters with an inside leg kick.
Wong ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Davison throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Nice defenses there by Davison.
Nice shot lands for Wong.
Wong misses with a lunging right hand
and Davison counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Wong looks to score with a jab to the body but Davison is just out of range.
Davison appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.

Wong gets caught napping as Davison dives in and scores a takedown. Wong manages to retain guard.
Davison is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Wong is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Davison is controlling him.

Wong throws a nice looking combination but Davison bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Davison looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Wong with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Wong manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Davison keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Davison misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
A lazy left from Wong finds it's target.
Davison shoots in looking for a takedown. Wong tries to sprawl out of it but Davison keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Wong manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
We've been told by Wong's head coaches at The Factory that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Wong is pushing Davison's head away, looking to escape. Davison manages to hold on to the position though.

Davison misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Davison has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

That was a close round but I would say that Kaye Wong will probably get the nod.

Kaye Wong is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Davison lands a nice short elbow.

Davison working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.


Wong is rocked!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Davison takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Oh Wong is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Davison lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Wong quite badly. Wong pulls Davison in close trying to recover. Davison postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Wong on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Wong doesn't seem to be complaining too much.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Chris Davison!
An out of breath Chris Davison thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
