French closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - French lands in his opponent's guard.

French would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
French is fighting to break Johnson's control of his arms but Johnson is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
French is breathing heavily.
Johnson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks French with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

French is rocked!
