Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Lyndon Perez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joey Mante (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lyndon Perez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joey Mante!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Wesley Smith and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mante throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Perez was covering up waiting for the punch and Mante finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Mante is looking to work some ground and pound but Perez has wrist control.
Mante stops Perez from standing up.
Mante really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Perez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Perez is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Mante lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Perez wants to get back to his feet but Mante is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Perez pushes Mante off looking to stand but Mante dives back in and keeps control.

Mante rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Perez moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Mante clinches up with Perez and pushes him back against the cage.
Perez drops down looking for an ankle pick but Mante pulls his leg out and moves away.
Mante misses with a head kick.
A counter left hand to the body from Perez misses its target.
Mante rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Perez moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Mante looks winded!
Perez fails in his attempt to clinch.

Mante drives through and clinches with Perez against the cage.
Perez goes for a takedown attempt but Mante pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lyndon Perez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mante keeps the fight on the outside.

Mante closes the distance and clinches.

Mante stops a takedown attempt from Perez.
Mante looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Perez fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Perez is fighting off a takedown attempt but Mante is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Perez to the mat. Perez regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Perez is looking to stand up but Mante isn't so interested in that idea.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Perez manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Perez wants to sweep here but Mante controlling him for the moment.

Joey Mante dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Mante drives through with a takedown into Perez's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Perez manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Mante lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Perez circles away quickly and effectively.

Mante feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Mante wants the takedown. Perez is fighting it off but Mante persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Perez's guard against the cage.

Perez pushes Mante off and scrambles back to his feet.
Mante swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Perez moves in looking to clinch but Mante pushes him off.
Mante misses with a low kick.
Perez tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Mante manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Perez has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Mante off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mante can do anything to dispel that myth.

That was a close second round but I would say that Lyndon Perez will probably get the nod.
