PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between DJ Shaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luke DeJustice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, DJ Shaw!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Luke DeJustice!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Ryoma Takatsuka and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
DeJustice throws a half hearted mid kick.
DeJustice uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Shaw has time to react.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Shaw crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from DeJustice - the referee stops the clock and Shaw gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says DeJustice. Shaw manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
DeJustice slaps away a takedown attempt from Shaw, before circling back to the center of the mat.
DeJustice lets loose with a powerful body kick. Shaw will feel that in the morning.
DeJustice tries to clinch but Shaw moves out of range.
DeJustice throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Luke DeJustice seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
DeJustice digs a good body shot into Shaw's ribs.

and Shaw counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for DeJustice!

Shaw decides to stand back up. Shaw steps back and let's DeJustice get back to his feet.
This has been an exciting period of action!
DeJustice thuds a left hand into Shaw's body.
DeJustice dodges the punch combination from Shaw.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Shaw lands a nice hook to DeJustice's body. DeJustice takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Shaw.
DeJustice tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
DeJustice is trying to escape the mount.
DeJustice is trying to stand up.
Shaw will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
DeJustice is in all sorts of trouble here.
DeJustice looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Shaw keeps control of the position as DeJustice tries to break free.
Shaw controls the position.
DeJustice can't escape the position.
Shaw just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Shaw has managed to slip his arm under DeJustice's chin. This could be all over... yep, DeJustice is tapping out! Submission win for Shaw.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). DJ Shaw!
