PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jarrett Greer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Little Jimmy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jarrett Greer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Little Jimmy!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Roger Salmon and Jeff Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jimmy throws a head kick but Greer moves out of range.
Jimmy scoring well with a low kick there.

Jimmy darts in and clinches Greer up against the cage.

Greer's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Jimmy closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Jimmy postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Jimmy has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Jimmy decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Jimmy throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Greer tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Jimmy is in Greer's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jimmy postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Greer looking for a sweep. Not yet Greer, not yet.
Jimmy trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Jimmy drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Greer dives on top into guard.

Greer really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Jimmy looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Greer passes into side control.
Jimmy tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Greer presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Jimmy is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Greer lands a couple of good shots and Jimmy has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Jimmy is rocked!

Jimmy manages to stand up with Greer still on his back. Eventually Greer drops to his feet and we're back in the standing position.
Jimmy is still on wobbly legs! Can Greer finish him?
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

and Greer counters with a nice double leg into side control. Jimmy won't be happy with that.
Greer landing strikes.
Jimmy on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Greer creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Jimmy is trying to control Greer's posture but Greer avoids it.

Jimmy tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Greer wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Greer will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Jimmy can't do much from the bottom here.
Jimmy seems to have recovered his senses.
Greer knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jimmy on the ground.
Greer lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
A control attempt from Jimmy but he's now mounted!
Greer is landing with some decent strikes but Jimmy is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Greer avoids the attempt from Jimmy to control.
Greer loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Jimmy scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Greer land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Greer stands and salutes the crowd.
