Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mike Cully (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roy Kannemeyer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Roy Kannemeyer is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mike Cully!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 17 - 0, fighting out of London, Roy Kannemeyer!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Donald Grub and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cully falls off balance throwing a combination
and Kannemeyer counters with a stiff right hand.
Kannemeyer takes one to the side of the head.
Cully throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Kannemeyer moves into the clinch.

Cully jumps guard and drags Kannemeyer to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Cully managing to control the position.
Cully is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


Cully is looking for submissions but instead, Kannemeyer has regained full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kannemeyer not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cully is working Kannemeyer over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kannemeyer is on top in guard.

Kannemeyer throws a big elbow that misses.
Kannemeyer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cully swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Cully is controlling Kannemeyer's posture.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kannemeyer wants to pass the guard but Cully is keeping the position.
Cully is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Kannemeyer passes into half guard.
Kannemeyer moves into full mount! Cully won't be happy about that!
Kannemeyer wants to control the pace but Cully is squirming around nicely.
Cully tries to reverse the position but Kannemeyer maintains control.
Kannemeyer misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cully tries to lock up and control but Kannemeyer gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cully tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Kannemeyer has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Cully is forced to tap!
